The whole point of an off-road van is being able to stop where you like, powered site or not. Titanium vans are set up for off-grid touring with solar, lithium battery storage and generous onboard water, so you can stay out longer between top-ups. How far off-grid you plan to travel is one of the biggest factors in choosing the right van – longer stays away from power and water point you toward models with bigger solar, battery and water capacity. Tare
The van's empty weight, set at the factory when the finished van is weighed. It is a fixed fact about that van, not something you can change.
Payload
How much you can add (gear, water, food, the BBQ) before you reach the limit. This is the number you control.
ATM
The most the fully loaded van is allowed to weigh.
Tow ball weight
The download on your vehicle's tow ball, which affects how the car drives.
Your tow vehicle has its own set of limits, and they are the ones people miss: braked towing capacity (the most the car is rated to tow), maximum tow ball download (often 350 kilograms, or 10 per cent of towing capacity – check the car’s plate), plus GVM and GCM. A safe, legal setup keeps both the loaded van and the fully loaded car inside all of them. Water is the sneaky one on an off-grid van: full tanks can use a big chunk of your payload before you have packed a thing. Not sure where you land? Rather than quote a number that dates quickly, we keep current pricing on the vans we have in stock (shown above), and we are happy to prepare a tailored quote. Servicing, warranty and after-sales support
